John Brennan To Be Nominated As CIA Director

John Brennan To Be Nominated As CIA Director

"Many people consider waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods to be torture."

Others strive to shrug it off as an enemy's grave misfortune but ..for people who've experienced being forcefully held flat with hands tied behind the back while rough handlers pour gallon, after gallon pitcher of ice cold water in your mouth, down your throat, through a tightly wound and already suffocating, cloth sieve wrapped around your face like a mask-- the percentage considering waterboarding torture rises sharply to include EVERYONE who lives to tell about it!

Nancy Pelosi To Obama: Just Use The 14th Amendment To Solve Debt Ceiling

Nancy Pelosi To Obama: Just Use The 14th Amendment To Solve Debt Ceiling

"White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said early in December that this administration does not believe that the 14th Amendment gives the president the power to ignore the debt ceiling -- period,"

But invoking the 14th Amendment to order the treasury to, by all means, find ways to raise money (for example, minting and selling titanium coins) in order to make regular payments towards contractual debts is hardly IGNORING any debt ceiling--which portends future debt--but rather sternly ignoring the maniacal THREAT from an irritating and  wayward faction controlling the House of representative, at present, which are threatening to IGNORE PAST DEBT altogether--for petty reasons borne of political disdain or prejudice. Anarchy perhaps.

I guess Nancy Pelosi said it best when she recently declared that "if I were president, I'd use the 14th Amendment, which says that the debt of the United States will always be paid. If you want to say, 'We are not going to do it so much in the future,' well that's another thing. But you can't say, 'I'm not paying my past debts.'

Will the New Congress Save Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid or Cut Benefits? The Middle Class Wants to Know

Will the New Congress Save Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid or Cut Benefits? The Middle Class Wants to Know

"Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell, [has] no intention of addressing a full deficit package in a balanced way" and has said " the short-term fiscal cliff deal "was the last word on taxes.."

The election of Barack Obama was the last nod 'we the people' gave to the 'balanced' approach the President now insists upon! If HE says the debate has only just begun on the best ways to reinvigorate and protect blameless Medicare and Social Security from further cuts--the savings for which have been used and even further coveted by republicans to pay for the fiscal calamity brought on by two loaned out wars never paid for under George Bush's watch and launched concurrent with his loathsome, trillion dollar tax cuts for the rich--than the debate is far, FAR from over...

First off, shouldn't we debate and pass the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act--better known as the JOBS BILL... chock full of enough infrastructure investment (republicans call that SPENDING, oh my) to employ millions so that more people can pay into these vital programs we, the people afford ourselves--in particular to millions of middle class and poor beneficiaries--before accepting savage, tea party spawned cuts that hobble the programs forever  ...?

Obama: I 'Will Not Compromise' On Debt Ceiling

Obama: I 'Will Not Compromise' On Debt Ceiling

"Americans know that "when you have no more money in your account and your credit cards are maxed out, then the spending must stop," Camp said."

A far more agreeable and industrious solution would be to take on extra work for income but this has become ever more unlikely a solution because there isn't enough employment in the nation whether because of overseas job-outsourcing or the exacerbating, all-too-common GOP practice of blocking all progress on a job's bill in the congress!

...Republicans like Camp are loathe to admit that in an advancing society like ours, the spending never STOPS -- it is rather a question of how much or little INVESTMENT 'we the people (AKA the government) are willing to make in our future, in our children's education and safety or for our grandparent's good health and comfort, or for the sick and disabled and to make sure no one goes needlessly hungry.”
